Teen Writers Conference

On June 6th, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. there will be a conference held at Weber State University for teens ages 13-19. It should be lots of fun! I am so excited. I am filling out my registration right now, and they are also holding a writing contest! (Which I am participating in and have already submitted my entry). So everybody go to the URL below and get registered! (Registration due May, 25) And enter in the contest! There are three prompts to choose from and the rules are very lax. It'll be a great experience I'm sure. :)

The Day I Almost Died

Thursday January 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. I was in a car accident that almost killed me had it not been for my seat belt and a miraculous unexplainable incident that occurred. Driving down the canyon on our way to Logan me and my mother were the only two in the car. I had stayed home from school that day for medical reasons and she was bringing me along to work with her. As we drove, the car started sliding. The roads were slick for it had been raining that morning and the water froze to the road forming a sheet of icy death. While my mom panicked, the car went more and more out of control leading us into several speedy spirals and spins across the highway. We came to an abrupt stop when we slammed into the side barrier facing the opposite way of traffic. We hit it hard and it was painful. In almost the same second we began to make our way over the cliff. Our lives flashed before us as we looked out the window and saw down the long way to the bottom. We knew it would be the end. We were going to die. Suddenly we were back on the road, spinning across the highway to the other side and stopped after hitting the other side barrier, softer this time. We screamed and cried and our hearts were pounding in shock of the traumatic experience. A woman from the other side of the road got out of her car and walked clear across the highway to our car and held my mom's hand saying that Heavenly Father was watching us and saved us. After the ambulance came and put us in braces, hoisting us onto rescue boards, and into the ambulance we rode to the hospital where many X-rays and tests were taken. We left with minor injuries. I had neck, head, back, and chest muscle problems that would take at least two weeks to recover from and my mom had whip lash and was bruised from the seat belt making her right arm immobile. I managed to get up and start walking around today, still suffering from mental pictures of the frightening experience. I am so glad to be alive and am still in awe of how our lives were rescued. I'm in a lot of pain, but I feel so lucky that it could've been so much worse. Thank goodness for seat belts and thank the Lord for miracles.

Christmas

This years Christmas was not the best, but I was more than satisfied with the gifts I received. So looking past all the family drama and icy breath down my neck I decided that this year, Christmas was all about the presents and having Christmas dinner in a tiny house with the whole family crammed in there and the power was out, seeing nothing in front of our faces but the tiny glimmer of candle light that was basically pointless.
Anyways...I got:
-an ipod classic
-itunes gift card
-$20.00
-oil paints and canvas's
-a blanket
-body sprays and lotion
-movies (riding in cars with boys, p.s. i love you, wall e, anger management, and penelope)
-books (some sort of Christmas romances)
-a stuffed animal spider named Aria
-a bless the fall cd and jewelry from my boyfriend <3
-and...I think thats all.
Happy new years to you all!

New Goal

I have decided to re-write my unfinished novel "A Wonkle Journey". It will be a long road of headaches and determination but I believe that I can make it work. I have already started by editing what I have so far and I have written a rough copy of the first page or so of the story. I hope to have this completed by the end of the school year or sooner. Any ideas or suggestions on how to make this easier or what to do would be much appreciated.

This is a writing group I participate in and anyone who wants can go to our page and read and comment. We're very interested in feedback on our writing. This is a school club so no inappropriate or unnecessary/rude comments. Thanks!

Twilight Movie

Tonight at 9:15 I went and saw Twilight; the book and movie everyone has been talking about. I have never read the books and haven't been too interested by the media advertising but today my family talked me into going and seeing the movie. I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. I hold a grudge towards Stephanie Meyer for writing Edward so perfectly though. There is no one like Edward that is real, so the torture of the fantasy is unforgivable. I am definitely going to start reading the books now and I cannot wait to see the next movie! It was breathtaking!

My Novel

This month I decided to participate in the National Novel Writing Month or as official participants say "NaNoWriMo". If you would like to check out the site or see what I've written of my book go to http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/402297 and see for yourself. The contest is for writers all over the world to challenge themselves and write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. It has been a thrill. Tomorrow, November 30 is the last day when you can put your word count in and I fell way behind and am only at 25,000 words. So this year I will not be a winner, but I am going to continue with my novel and plan on getting to 50k before Christmas.
